We Are Yours
Do no seek to have God's annointing. Seek rather to let God's annointing have you.
God's annointing isn't something you can have. God's annointing is what He is. We don't have God, but He has us, or at least He should.
It is when I no longer live but Christ lives in me that I have His annointing.
Do not seek to have God; seek rather for God to have you.
The flesh profits nothing. In me there lies no good thing, that is, in my flesh. But God is all and in all. When I no longer live for myself but I live for Christ Who loved me and gave Himself up for me, then it is His power that energizes me and focuses me, His words that flow through me. And only then am I truly living in the Spirit. I died but nevertheless I live, and the life I now life, I live by faith in the Son of God.
John 6:28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
We don't get the Holy Spirit living in us simply by asking for Him to come inside of us. We receive the Sprit through faith.
Gal 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Faith in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His vicarious death, burial, and resurrection; this faith brings us justification. When we are justified, we are cleansed from our sins. When we are cleansed from our sins, we are declared righteous. When we are righteous, then God's Spirit can dwell within us. When we submit to His Holy Spirit, then we become sanctified, set apart, and embark on a journey of transformation. God's holiness begins to manifest in us. God's holiness is a gift of God, but He works in cooperation with us to manifest His works in us and through us.
We have confidence before Him because of His blood, though faith. Never because of what we've done or haven't done, but because of Jesus's sacrifice for us. Therefore we are on the same footing before God as any saint who ever lived. In fact, His word says that we are seated WITH CHRIST in the heavens.
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
But if we want to be equipped and ready for God to use, we do need to educate ourselves, to let God form us and mold us, through obedience. We need to let go of our egos and our self image and our own thoughts and plans, and we need to be still in God's presence and let Him have us completely, to have our minds our wills completely. We need to get rid of our rules and regulations and stop thinking that God is waiting to punish us or that God cannot use us because we're not good enough.
Gal 3:5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
If you want to be great in God's kingdom, learn to be the servant of all.
