The Secret to Unlocking God's Power in Your Life
This is it; are you ready?
God will not be in your life at all unless He is the most important thing in your life. You will only find God when you are desperate to find God, when you are willing to trade anything that is not God for God.
Matthew 13:44
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; which when a man has found, he hides, and for joy thereof goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field."
Jeremiah 29:13
And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Matthew 5:3-8
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God."
Luke 9:23
Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."
1 Corinthians 15:31
I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Colossians 3:3
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
James 4:7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Luke 18:18-34
Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. [ed: if Jesus is good then Jesus is God.] You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' "
And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth."
So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
--Now, did Jesus just say that you can't go to heaven if you have money? Nope. What he did was simply point out to this particular man who his god was. Jesus pointed out the one thing this man lacked, and that was the desperation for God and the willingness to abandon anything and everything that kept him from knowing God. Jesus didn't say to very many people "come, follow Me." And those who received that invitation were very blessed indeed. Will you take Jesus up on His invitation to you? Will you leave all behind and follow Him?
You know He doesn't want you poor. He only wants to take away those things that prevent you from knowing Him. Things that will not satisfy, things that will not last, things that are not important, things that steal your peace.
Matthew 6:25-34
"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
"So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
